Pestat’s goal is to deliver tools and strategies to assist with practical management of feral and invasive animals. As part of this goal, FeralMone® was developed by Pestat and has been commercially available since April 2005.

FeralMone®

FeralMone® is a spray attractant that can assist with detection and management of foxes and wild dogs. It is intended for use at sand plots, bait stations and trap sites. FeralMone® has been shown to significantly increase site visitation and bait uptake by foxes and wild dogs. It should be used only in accordance with the following directions, precautions and warnings.

FeralMone® is available in Australia through state agencies and rural merchant stores and is distributed by Animal Control Technologies Pty Ltd, 46-50 Freight Drive, Somerton, Victoria.

Directions

Shake the can briefly and gently before use. Hold the can upright about 15-20 cm from the intended point of application, and apply the spray centrally on a sand plot surface, on soil directly above a buried trap or bait, or on a feature such as a rock or stump immediately adjacent to a buried trap. Apply for 1-2 seconds only – excessive application may be counterproductive. Avoid direct application to plant foliage.

FeralMone® should only be used outdoors – do not use inside buildings or other enclosed areas. Do not spray towards yourself, other people or animals. Do not inhale.

Precautions

FeralMone® is supplied in a pressurised dispenser, and should be treated like any other aerosol product. Store the can in a cool place away from direct sunlight, with its cap on. The contents of the can are highly flammable and the product should not be stored or used near sources of ignition, naked flames or any incandescent material. Do not smoke while using FeralMone.

The contents of the can may be corrosive and have a strong and unpleasant odour for humans. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothes. Wear suitable protective clothing, gloves and eye/face protection. In case of accidental skin contact, wash the affected area immediately with soap and water.

Warnings

Do not puncture or incinerate the can even once it is empty. Keep the product out of the reach of children. Deliberately concentrating and/or inhaling the contents could be harmful or fatal.
